New London County
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The cemetery's number of stones was counted at five when included in the Hale Cemetery Collection, and again in 2009. Only four were in view in 2011. Of those remaining, one stone is unreadable. The cemetery itself has never undergone a name change per the Franklin, Connecticut town clerk.
It is located on state property and is open to the public. Closed at dusk.
Accessible only on foot.
From route 32 in the town of Franklin, Connecticut, turn onto Plains Road. Take your first right at the sign "Wildlife Management Area" and enter the parking lot. Park on the left side and walk through the gate with the sign "Franklin Swamp WMA Shooting Range". Follow the path on the right of the range. It starts as a dirt road and becomes a small walking path into the woods. There may appear to be a fork in the path - stay left going uphill as the burials are on top of a knoll and out of view until the peak of the knoll is reached.
