Greater London England
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
All Hallows Lombard Street was located in Langbourn Ward at the corner of Lombard Street and Gracechurch Street in the City of London.
Hemmed in with city buildings it was known as the "hidden church" The church is known to date from at least 1054 but greatly damaged during the great London fire. It was rebuilt in 1694 by the office of Christoper Wren.
As the residents moved out of the area, attendance fell after WWI and the church was demolished in 1937. The furnishings and tower were moved to All Hallows Twickinham.
The site is now occupied by a bank. Most of the City Churches were destroyed or badly damaged in WWII by Nazi bombers and not rebuilt. At Least All Hallows Lombard Street was spared that.
The parish records have been microfilmed and are at the Guildhall Library.
