The mausoleum, built in 1808 is located in the Castle Gardens of Ludwigslust, a town in the German State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is dedicated to Duchess Louise von Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg. There is a second mausoleum in this castle park, dedicated to her daughter-in-law Helen of Russia:
