As can be seen, it is overgrown with mesquite and ebony trees, but fenced with barbed wire, and the landowner has directed that it not be damaged.
The site is approximately 2 miles north of the Cameron-Willacy county line near the Arroyo Colorado. Heading due west from that point, the cemetery is in a clump of ebony trees, about one mile from the Arroyo, on a dirt road leading away from a maintenance building and a farm equipment storage area..
ALL signs of headstones and markers are presented here.
This Historical marker, about 13 miles south along Farm Road 1420, attests to the history of the area. The cemetery is recorded as being 1/2 mile north of the old StageCoach Inn, where the stage horses were changed, and travelers rested - which was near the ferry crossing on the Arroyo Colorado.
One old description says, "There are many grave markers that give date of birth and date of death. There are great number of unidentified wooden crosses and many mounds without crosses." (sic)
Those are still relatively visible.
