Built 1916-1923 by architect Ivar Tengbom. It has been called the last cathedral built in Sweden. It is also the last major church representing the national-romantic style. The two towers reach 105 meters(350 ft)above sea level which is exactly the height of Stockholm City Hall, also built 1923. The north tower should according to Tengbom represent the Lord's Commandments and is named after the apostle Ansgar. The South represents the Gospel the church bells is spreading and is named after the reformer Olaus Petri.
The crucifix is the largest in Scandinavia and is created by Gunnar Torhamn. The great organ has 56 stops,4 manuals and pedal. The columbarium was added 1939 and extended 1959.
