AKA: Rhode Island Historical Cemetery North Smithfield #38 (NS038)
This cemetery was originally located on the farm of E. Carpenter on Pound Hill Road within area bounded by Old Oxford Rd and Hart Pond Dr. The land was taken over by the government in 1955 in order to build a Nike Site which was operational from 1956 to 1971. On 1 July 1971 the site became an RI ANG station and is still active in that capacity.
The remains were removed from the farm and relocated to Union cemetery NS007 in North Smithfield. They are presently located at the extreme eastern #left side# part of Union cemetery between Plat 14 Lot 100 and the Old Town Burial Ground and surrounded by granite posts and metal railing.
It is not specified on any of Union Cemetery's maps, and there's no record of any of the internments on cemetery records. Government documents concerning this move lists 32 burials, and only 12 stones.
Remains moved and names entered in Union Cemetery data base.
