Family Cemetery on Private Property
This cemetery of Jethro Brown family contains dozens of unmarked graves although a few are marked with field stones.
"He [Jethro Brown] was buried in the family cemetery not far from Locust Hill Methodist Church. ... the tobacco field just south of the cemetery was called "The Grave Yard Hill"." ("The Caswell Messenger" July 13, 1961)
Located in front of Locust Hill Methodist Church. (1957 J. Burch Blaylock, Register of Deeds, Caswell Co NC)
The gravestones of Jethro Brown and his wife Lucy Williamson Brown were moved to the Bedford Brown Cemetery at Rose Hill by Mary Skipwith Brown sometime between the 1957 Blaylock survey and a 1981 interview with "Miss Mary". However, Jethro and Lucy are still interred somewhere in this cemetery.
"I had to rescue the markers of Jethro and Lucy from another cemetery. I brought it up here to place alongside the other graves out there." (Mary Skipwith Brown, 1981)
