|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Freighting contractors were killed by Indians under Satanta, Satank and Big Tree, Kiowa and Comanche Chiefs on 18 May 1871 while hauling forage for Henry Warren, government contractor from Weatherford, Texas. The men were attacked at this site between Jacksboro and Fort Griffin on the Salt Creek Prairie.
After the attack, the soldiers from Fort Richardson buried the men in one of the wagons and set up a wooden cross. The cross was still visible when the State of Texas erected this monument. The cemetery is on private land.
