The City of College Station held a groundbreaking ceremony on April 19, 2008. The eastern loop also consists of some 5 acres and is designated the Aggie Field of Honor. The remains from graves in the Texas A&M College Cemetery consisting of some historic, 100-plus-year-old graves were moved to the Aggie Field of Honor section in February 2011.
