Cemetery notes and/or description:
Finnish name for this cemetery is: Helsingin Vanhan kirkon hautausmaa or Kampin hautausmaa

Helsinki Old Church was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel and it was opened 1826. The area had already been a medieval graveyard and people called it Ruttopuisto (Plague Park), because 1710 large numbers of local people who died of plague were buried there.
1829 Hietaniemi Cemetery was taken into use, so the Old Church Cemetery is now a public park. Those killed in action during the occupation of Helsinki in April 1918 were buried in the park. Also the Finnish volunteers who lost their lives in Estonian War of Independence 1919 were buried in a joint grave in the Yrjönkatu side of the park.
48 memorial stones that are still left in the park are from years 1790-1829.
