|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Eastern Parkway, in Brooklyn, is the world's first parkway. It was conceived by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in 1866. Following World War I, trees were planted along Eastern Parkway to memorialize Brooklyn residents who died in the war. Bronze plaques were placed at the base of each tree, with the particular name of a fallen soldier. There were once hundreds of these trees and plaques, each 4 inches by 9 inches, but unfortunately many have become illegible or have been stolen or damaged.
