|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The second church to be built in Morristown, the First Baptist Church of Morristown was founded by eleven members meeting 3 miles south of the First Presbyterian Church on Mount Kemble and Sandy Spring Road. The church moved to it's present location in 1771, building a wood frame structure on the southeast portion of the Morristown Green. The church's cemetery was located on what is now occupied by the Century 21 Department Store (formerly the location of Macy's), and was in use from the Revolutionary War until the end of the 19th century. In the late 1800s, the property was purchased by a real estate developer named Mc Alpin, who then moved the graves to Evergreen Cemetery in Morristown (this area is sometimes known as the "Mc Alpin block").
