Panthersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery
The Panthersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery "IS NOT KNOWN" as the White Family Cemetery "NOR" is the "White Family Cemetery" KNOWN AS The Panthersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery. They are "SEPARATE" cemeteries located at the same location, "SIDE BY SIDE". The Panthersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery/White Family Cemetery is located on the CORNER of Flat Shoals Road and Candler Road. As you turn left at the RED LIGHT at Flat Shoals, the CEMETERY is located on the RIGHT SIDE of the ROAD. There is NO SIGN POSTED ANYWHERE stating the fact that this is the Panthersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery. I found it searching an old obituary that actually listed the location of the cemetery. I knew I had a relative buried here, and of course, I found them.
The OLD CHURCH is located about a couple blocks away at the corner of Flat Shoals Road and Panthersville Road. The original address of the church was 3482 Flat Shoals Road, Decatur, GA 30035. I checked with the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta and they had no photos of the church and the only information obtained was that the church was officially dissolved on December 31st, 1989 and the Cemetery was given over to the Perpetual Care Cemetery Trust Fund of Panthersville, Inc.
.......The White Family Cemetery.......
THE WHITE FAMILY CEMETERY joins the Panthersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery just to the right, through a thin line of trees. There is a sign for "The White Family Cemetery" at the far end of the cemetery. There are 77 INTERMENTS in the WHITE FAMILY CEMETERY with 3 graves that are UNMARKED.
THE WHITE FAMILY CEMETERY has the following SIR NAMES;
WHITE, DUREN, DOBY, MURDOCK, GLADDEN, SMITH, TURNER, MURRAY, JEFFREY, JOHNSON, RECKERMAN, BAILEY, CLEVELAND AND HULSEY.
As FAR As I can tell, the WHITE's here are of no relation to my particular WHITE GENEALOGY that I could find, however that does not rule out the possibility somewhere along the line that we are KIN FOLK. My lineage goes to Thomas Allen White, and they settled here in the Panthersville Area and in HENRY County. These WHITE's very well could be brother's to Thomas. I have no record of his Father or any BROTHER's at ALL.
MY LINEAGE: (ME) Larry Thomas White <> Fred Thomas White JR <> Fred Thomas White SR <> Oliver Lawson White <> James Thomas White <> James William White <> Thomas Allen White.
HOWEVER...I do find that the DUREN's buried here are distant Kin Folk. Interestingly, My Great Grandmother, Maggie Pauline DUREN, married a WHITE, not the same lineage.
