|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The Joiner burial lot located in the NW quarter of Sec 25 of Township 41 N, Range 4, DeKalb County, Il., has been commonly known as the "Joiner Cemetery" for many years. That I have checked the Estate records and Deed records of DeKalb County, Il., and find that one Adelbert Joiner was the owner of the land on which said burial lot is located and that said Adelbert Joiner died February 28, 1877; that the heirs of said Adelbert Joiner by Warranty Deed dated January 30, 1880, and recorded in Book 64 of Deeds, Page 215, conveyed to John Hitchcock a part of the Northwest quarter of Section 25, reserving form said conveyance a bural lot about six rods square where are buried Henry J. Joiner and others for use as a burial lot for those now interred there and for burial of such other relatives of said Henry J. Joiner or their friends may wish to bury there, such friends to keep up a substantial fence around said burial lot while so used. That I have checked subsequent deeds on said described land and such reservation for a burial lot is still made a part of said deeds. That no burials have been made in said burial lot for over fifity years.
An estimated 60 graves were in the Joiner Cemetery. Marvin Dennis, Dorastus Dennis, Mary Holderness Dennis and their 4 children, Mary A.,Isadora, Joseph and Charles were all moved from the Joiner Cemetery to the Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore, Illinois. The names of the others buried in the Joiner Cemetery are unknown. Their headstones are missing, or so broken they are unreadable.
