Cemetery notes and/or description:
The Lawson Cemetery is around a mile south of the Hopewell Hollow Road (CR 64) in a pasture on the Roger Pitchford farm. At the time of the burials in the cemetery, the property belonged to Edward Ruff Lawson, and all of the burials are members of the Lawson and King families.
There are only four marked graves in the cemetery, but information supplied by family members indicate that several others were buried there. According to those reports, the following individuals were buried there in unmarked graves: George Lawson, died 1919; Josie Lawson (wife of Edward Ruff); and King Lawson, a six-year old son of Edward Ruff & Sarah Josie Lawson that died March 6, 1908. Some researchers indicate that Sally Ann King, first wife of Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" King was buried there.
(The picture of the Lawson Cemetery and the photos of the tombstones in the cemetery were taken April 26, 2009, through the courtesy of Linda Page Bradbury and Annamae Lawson Freeman.)
