Place name: Looney's Creek Old School Baptist Church
Description: An Old School Baptist Church east of Bethel, near the Tiger Fork line, six miles north and five miles east of Shelbyville; organized by Henry Louthan and his followers (See Looney's Creek Mt. Zion Church). A meeting house was built in 1846. It was early known as the Henry Louthan Baptist Church, for the man "who preached without charge and labored with untiring energy," and who served the church as pastor for thirty-four years. It is known by various names: Primitive Baptist Church, Hardshell Baptist, Old School Baptist. The church is still active. (HIST. SHELBY 1884, 816, 817, 882, 886; HIST. SHELBY 1911, 182, 183; HIST. > Elizabeth Rutter. The present church has 19 members. Henry Louthan
> served this congregation as pastor for 34 years, after which F.
> M. Turner took charge, but there is no pastor at present. The church
> building is brick, valued at about $1,200. This church was organized
> before the division of the Baptist Church into the two factions, Old
> and New School. (See History of Tiger Fork Township).

From Bethel, drive east on Road J for 7 miles to Road W. Turn south onto Road W. Drive south on Road W for 2.6 miles to the second road on the left, which is at a curve where the main road turns to the right. Turn left onto the gravel road. Drive east on the gravel road for 0.6 miles. The cemetery is on the left side of the road at a curve.
