|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Burial Records for Maryhill Churchyard were destroyed by a fire in the church vestry during the 1950's. All that remains is a receipt book which was found in a biscuit tin. For those interested in tombstone inscriptions, the Glasgow and West Scotland Family History Society worked very hard to record all remaining tombstones within the cemetery in 1985 and their condition. For a copy of this booklet, contact the society.
Please bear in mind that your ancestor may not have had a tombstone or it may have been broken or missing when the transcribing took place. Obtaining a death certificate is the best way to confirm where the burial occurred.
The current condition of this cemetery (2009) is in disrepair. It is gated, locked, and overgrown. The city is currently working on terms to clean it up.
