|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The Theodore Cemetery is an old pioneer cemetery. It is located just north of Duchesne, Utah on "D" hill. It was Duchesne's original cemetery and still bears the name Theodore, which was the name of Duchesne at the time the cemetery was in use. The cemetery was used from 1906 through 1914, when it was abandoned because of the difficulty of digging graves in the stone-laden soil. A new cemetery, the current Duchesne Cemetery, was located south of town, which continues to serve the Duchesne community today along with the Strawberry Cemetery (located west of Duchesne) and the Utahn Cemetery located northwest of Duchesne.
As you enter Duchesne from the west turn north on the dirt road just west of the Phillip 66 gas station. Continue up the hill; as you reach the top of the hill take the dirt road to the right. Continue for about a quarter of a mile where you will find the cemetery and a historical marker.
