|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
AKA Levi Long Cemetery.
This is a small abandoned cemetery on the corner of Lake Thunderbird Drive and 50E. The owners of the adjacent farm cleaned it up and put a fence around it. I have been told that this is the family cemetery of Levi Long.
His relatives visit periodically from Iowa and Nebraska.
It has been said that the previous owners, no relation to anyone buried here, let cows into the cemetery. The cows knocked over and damaged many of the tombstones.
A little more info about this cemetery from Senachwine Pioneer Days, Putnam, Illinois, Souvenir Book, page 35--article titled Long Cemetery--"This farm was in the Long family from 1844 until 1959, when Mildred Long Finnegan sold it to George and Mary Neuhalfen".
May God bless the souls of all interred here.
