LAKE CHAPEL CEMETERY
Lake Chapel, Lake Township, Allen County is located on the west side of Butt Road, behind the Methodist Church 1.5 miles north of the Leesburg Road. Not in use. This cemetery was vandalized some years ago. It includes a large flat marker with individual plaques of name and dates, replacing the identifiable stones destroyed. The earliest date on this marker is 1816.
Located behind a church, as so many of these pioneer cemeteries are, this is a shady, serene spot, perhaps the site of many Sunday afternoon picnics, long ago, the ladies in bonnets swapping recipes, the men and boys pitching horseshoes....
