|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This burial ground is located in the People's State Forest near Barkhamsted. Archeologist say there are at least 50 unmarked graves here and some family members say as many as 200. What stones are found are simply stones and do not have inscriptions. On December 3, 2008 the Connecticut Historic Preservation Council designated the Lighthouse Archaelogical Site as a State Archaelogical Preserve. This burial ground is near the "Barkhamsted Lighthouse" which was the home of James and Molly (Barber) Chaugham. James was a Narragansett Indian and Molly "a white woman". A book was written by Kenneth L. Feder called "The Village Of Outcasts". It examines the archaeology of this site.
