Location purchased by the City of Hot Springs in 1895, and used as a pauper's burial ground, and for deceased whose relatives could not be located, until 1984. Hundreds of unmarked, sunken graves cover the hillside, oriented oddly in a north/south axis (most graves are usually oriented on an east/west axis).
The city has not cleared the site since the final burial, and it is now totally overgrown.
Records maintained at a city office list the names and grave locations of seven persons buried in the cemetery in 1983; the final interment location (Wilson) is not noted. |
