Manitou Mercury, November 1892: The burial plot contains two acres of a beautiful rising ground from which the Town of Manitou is distinctly visible. This plot is the gift Of D. McMichael, Esq. Q.C. of Toronto.
Editors' Note: Elijah Harmer owned the land that became Archibald (now Manitou) Cemetery. It seems that it was in the hands of a Queen's Court Judge when it was changed into a cemetery.
Western Canadian, 1903: All records Of Manitou Cemetery were recently burned in a fire.

A monument within the cemetery, unveiled on 26 June 1921, commemorates local members of the Odd Fellows who were killed during the First World War. The Archibald United Church was moved here following the closure of the Archibald Museum.

As noted above, a part of the town's story and those of its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1997 is told in the volume "The Rhythm With Our Roots - A History of Manitou & Area", especially starting on page 61. A free digital version of this and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society (reference #1151), transcribed by a member or members in 1997. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the "MGS Manitoba Name Index" (or MANI).
Additionally, the local Pembina Manitou Archive curates a considerable collection of records and information about the people and places of the area, including a listing of those buried in this cemetery based on the files of the Rural Municipality of Pembina, the church files, and the information on the gravestones in the cemetery.
