Cemetery notes and/or description:
Rose Hill Cemetery, looking north east from E. Willow St.towards Highland St. There are a lot of burials here but over time the stones have been lost or destroyed. A number of the graves are sunken.
The cemetery was established in 1841, covering an area of approx. 22 acres. It was abandoned as an active cemetery in the early 1900s, and converted into a city park in 1910.
Some estimates are that over 10,000 unmarked burials are present. |
