|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
"The 'Bolmer Family Burial Ground' is a small family cemetery located, literally, in the middle of Middle Rd. in Martinsville, Bridgewater Twp., NJ. This unusual location came about as a result of the construction of the Spring Run housing development during the late 1940's. The cemetery dates from circa 1700 and contains the oldest dated gravestone yet found in Bridgewater Twp. The stone is that of 'F.B.' and is dated 1742. There are currently 5 roughly carved stones which are lying flat on the ground. It is believed, however, that there are more unmarked graves in this plot, probably those of Revolutionary War soldiers, both British and American. The nearby Bolmer Farm was used at one time as a winter encampment during the Revolutionary war. Also, there is uncorroborated testimony from a Middle Rd. resident, although it does seem likely, that the cemetery contains scores of graves and that it was vandalized many years ago by a local homeowner who took enough stones to pave their basement. A Bolmer family relative, it seems, actually saw the stones on the basement floor.
