Jefferson Davis Parish
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Rose Hill Cemetery is an African American cemetery located at the North edge of the Village of Fenton, Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana (on the side of Hwy 165) and is between the roadside and the railroad tracks. It was given to me by a life time resident in Fenton that the former church building was once on the South end of this cemetery. When the Baptist church merged with another church, it was agreed that the name "Rose Hill" cemetery would keep it's name. At this time, there are about 110 graves, with about 30 of them are unmarked. The graves range from a past mayor of Fenton to an unmarked child's grave made of brick and mortar. A few graves are partly sunken due to the soft ground, and could date from the late 1800's.
