|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This cemetery no longer exists. In 1907, the city chose to "move" this cemetery to Forest Rose Cemetery. The sad and scary part about this is that almost all the people were not moved. Some were, but the family had to pay to move them. Stones were knocked down and even one was found in a house between two foundation walls. The chances of getting a pictures is slim and none. The scary part, this area where the cemetery used to be, is now a park with a playground.
The site of the cemetery is now Firehouse Park on the southeast corner of the intersection of E Chestnut Street and S High Street.
The cemetery was located in Berne Township, Fairfield County, Ohio, and is # 3091 (Old City Burying Ground / Lancaster Town Cemetery) and # 3092 (Old Methodist Cemetery) in “Ohio Cemeteries 1803-2003”, compiled by the Ohio Genealogical Society.
