Cemetery notes and/or description: According to an untitled history of the region, the first official use of the name Horse Heaven in conjunction with this area dates to 1884 with the founding of the Horse Heaven School. This history also notes that the Horse Heaven Cemetery started in the garden of William Dennis, a local resident killed in a harvest accident in 1892 (1893).
