The Cimetière Municipal de Saint-Avold, Carré Militaire (Saint-Avold Municipal Cemetery, Military Section; called the Saint Avold Military Cemetery by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission) is located to one side of the Municipal Cemetery and contains French, British, Russian, Polish and Yugoslavian interments, primarily from the First World War. Military interments were begun by the Germans in 1914 when the town was under German occupation; after 1918 the German interments were moved to be at some distance from the Allied burials.
