|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Local records confirm a Methodist Church at Brucetown dating back to the early 1850s but the exact date it was established is unknown, although the cemetery includes stones that date from 1822. The church was a one story brick structure which stood just west of the current church. Ten years after the Civil War, during which there were held irregular services, construction began on the new church. Numerous alterations and additions have been made to the church over the years, and two extensions have been made to the cemetery.
Directions = Take I-81 to Virginia Exit 321 (Clearbrook) and turn East on Hopewell Road. Proceed less than half a mile, crossing over the railroad, to a T-Intersection with U.S. Rt-11. Turn left (North) and proceed a very short distance, turning Right on to Brucetown Road. Travel roughly two miles and the church and cemetery will be on the left. There is a small dirt/gravel area just before the cemetery, or plenty of parking in the church lot.
