Hove Cemetery was opened in 1882.[50 acres] This is one of seven cemeteries, totalling 170 acres, owned and managed by Brighton Corporation.This is a large burial ground spanning both sides of the A270 trunk road.Hove Cemetery(South)is also known as Hove(Old)Cemetery and Hove Cemetery(North)is also known as Hove(New)Cemetery.The Commonwealth War Graves Commission show these as entirely separate cemeteries.Traditional, lawn, children's and cremated remains plots are here. There are two Victorian chapels but only one is available for funerals. Public toilets are provided in Hove Cemetery (North) and an accessible toilet in Hove Cemetery (South). Sections have been set aside to accommodate all faiths including Moslem, Baha'i, non Orthodox Jewish(with its own Prayer Hall) and Coptic Christians. A sectional plan of Hove Cemetery is available.
