Cemetery notes and/or description: In early 1847, the business community and clergy of Sillery held a meeting to discuss establishing a new cemetery. Over the following year, the Quebec Protestant Cemetery Association was thus created and the new cemetery registered May 30, 1849. It was officially named Mount Hermon at that time after the sacred mountain that is situated on the border between the countries of Lebanon and Syria, north of Israel. There is a sign upon entering, which reads, "
Visitors are reminded that these Grounds are appropriated for the Interment of the Dead, and that a strict observance of the proprieties due to the place is therefore indispensible."
