|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The Fairview Methodist Church was built in 1869. In 1870 a cemetery was established adjoining the church property. The deed for the cemetery was sold to the Trustees of Fairview Cemetery Association for one dollar.
Fairview Cemetery is owned by the Fairview Cemetery Association and is located 3.5 miles south of Papillion at 90th and Fairview Road. The cemetery is no longer connected with the Methodist Church and the original church building was moved to a nearby farm.
The cemetery has a unique monument that is a statue of a large dog. In the 1880s a little girl died near Springfield in Sarpy County. The little girl had as a companion a large dog and the two were always together. When the little girl died and was buried at Fairview, the faithful dog remained at her grave and refused to leave. He refused to eat and in a few days died on the grave of the little girl. Her parents erected the monument of the dog over her grave. The dog statue is located on Lot 74.
