He began his career performing in nightclubs and on the stage, before making his film debut in "O.S.S." (1946), followed by "My Favorite Brunette" (1947). A veteran of over 40 films, his credits include "The Lawless" (1950), "Julius Caesar" (1953), "Blackboard Jungle" (1955), "Spartacus" (1960) and "Flesh Gordon" (1974). He also had number of memorable roles on the TV series "The Twilight Zone", "Get Smart", "Star Trek", "The Monkees" and "Hogan's Heroes". He died of cancer at age 85 in Santa Cruz, California.
