The brilliant pianist Glenn Gould retired from his concertizing at the peak of his success in 1964. He made his professional debut (1946) as soloist with the Toronto Symphony. In 1955 he gave his first U.S. recitals in Washington D.C., and New York City, and his European debut in Berlin. Gould was the first North American pianist invited (1957) to perform in the USSR. What a lovely and fascinating person you were, Glenn. I just bought a copy of your Goldberg Variations ('55 and '81!) for my niece, who loves the piano. I know she will be thrilled. May you rest in peace. -
