He was one of the most important musical authors, specially in electronic music, in the second half of Twentieth Century. He was a follower of dodecaphonism, musical composition using the 12-tone technique, and is best known for his music used in the scores of Stanley Kubrick's films "2001: A Space Odyssey," "The Shining" and "Eyes Wide Shut." His father and his brother died in the death camps of Bergen-Belsen and Mauthausen. In 1959,he worked with the composers Pierre Boulez Stockhausen and Luigi Nono. Among his works "Apparitions," "Atmosphčres," "Lontano" and "Le Grand Macabre." He died in Vienna, Austria. (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
