Wilhelm immigrated with his brother Carl from Stavenhagen, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany about a year before his parents and their 5 remaining children in June 1868. He married Maria (Mary) Grabbin (1855 Ger. - 19 ?)on May 8,1869 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio. He and his wife lived with Carl and his wife as of the 1870 Cleveland census. He was by trade a carpenter. He became a naturalized citizen on Oct 8, 1875. At some time in the early 1880's he moved to Chicago with his wife. There is no mention of the cause of his early demise. His wife remarried. He was buried in the Waldheim German Cemetery in Chicago, later known as Forest Home Cemetery. His daughter Augusta Oltmanns "Gussie" (Dec 19, 1874 Chicago - Dec 7, 1962 Chicago) married Daniel James Kalb (May 13, 1867 Ger. - May 1, 1917) on Jul 10, 1891 in Chicago.
