His career began in 1965, when he came up with the Kansas City (later Oakland) Athletics, and ended in 1979 with the New York Yankees. He won 21 games 5 times, was an 8-time American League All-Star, and won the 1974 American League Cy Young Award. He died from ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987.
