Add PhotosThe Parish of Santa María de Guadalupe "Capuchinas" stands as a Catholic sanctuary situated within the Basilica of Guadalupe, Mexico City. Its origins trace back to the late 18th century when it was constructed as an integral part of the convent bearing the same name, established by the Capuchin nuns in 1787. Following Sister María Ana de San Juan Nepomuceno's plea, supported by Archbishop Alonso Núñez de Haro, official royal consent was secured in 1780 to initiate its foundation. The architectural endeavor, overseen by Ignacio Castera, commenced in 1782 and culminated in 1787 upon its completion. On October 13, 1787, the temple and convent were formally inaugurated, marking the advent of the community with the arrival of five Capuchin nuns from the capital's convent.
