McCoy Cemetery
Crum, Wayne County, West Virginia, USA
The cemetery is located near Webb Road on a narrow ridge overlooking the Tug River, and is divided into three distinct sections.
The McCoy cemetery section is completely fenced in, is still in active use and is well maintained. The uppermost part of the cemetery contains the oldest graves, mostly marked with simple upright fieldstones. Initials are carved on four of the fieldstones but another eleven fieldstones have no discernable markings.
A sturdy fence runs along the ridge to the left of the McCoy Cemetery to a separate grouping of burials. The area on the near side of the fence is relatively clear of brush and contains graves of the Copley family and perhaps others. The gravestones in this area have fallen over and are lightly covered with debris. The area on the far side of the fence is wooded and contains several graves marked only by upright fieldstones with no discernable inscriptions.
Another separate burial area is located in a wooded area near a high spot on the ridge to the right and behind the McCoy Cemetery. Several graves are located here, mostly of the Fitzpatrick family. Some gravestones are erect and in good condition, others are partially buried, and some graves are marked by simple fieldstones.
