Located at "Burrage's End", Tracy's Landing, Anne Arundel County, Maryland on Nutwell Road off of Maryland Rt #2, behind St. James Episcopal-Olde Herring Creeke Church.
Burrage was originally patented in 1661-62 by John Burrage. In 1663, Burrage's Blossom was added to the property and in 1665, Burrage's End. In 1668, part of the 3 properties were sold to Major John Welsh. In 1767, the property was lost or sold to John Weems and remained in his family until it was bought by the Sellman family.
THE FIRST SELLMAN to be buried was Thomas, 1771-1818.
His son, John kept a diary that mentioned the addition of a fence to enclose the graveyard on Saturday, 15 October, 1851. There are 13 graves in this cemetery, all documented.
The gravestones for Mary Weems, Richard Weems and James Nicholson were transferred to the cemetery in 1963 from "Coxby", the home of the parents of Dr. Richard Weems.
There evidently were other stones at "Coxby" at one time but these three were the only ones salvaged. The others had been desecrated beyond saving.
This cemetery is on PRIVATE property.
