This family cemetery is located on land that originally was known as "Westphalia" plantation, patented to Robert Wells. In 1671, Alexander Magruder, the immigrant, purchased 250 acres from Wells and called it Dunblane plantation, which was named for the town, Dunblane in Scotland.
The family cemetery was situated in close proximity to the original house on the upward slope near the back door, with the closest gravestone being about 20 feet from the door. It is believed that John Magruder who first resided at Dunblane, is buried at the cemetery. Although he has no gravestone, there is a stone tablet that was placed in his honor at the St. Barnabas-Leeland Episcopal Church that he attended.
The historic home burned in 1969 and the land changed owners several times. It is currently privately owned by a re-cycling firm and the property is fenced. There are security devices in place.
A memorial has been created for each gravestone that has been located in the cemetery.
