Boones Catholic Chapel Cemetery

This church was the beginning of the Catholic Church for the middle part of Prince George's County, Maryland. It was built by a private Catholic family for the use of locals. The Chapel was described as being a modest size building made of wood set back in the woods surrounded by its cemetery. It was regularly listed in Catholic directories up until 1844 when it must have succumbed to time.
As of the mid-1980's, only 3 stones remain with numerous indications of surrounding graves from sunken lots.
This information is from the book: Stones and Bones: Cemetery Records of Prince George's County, Md which was walked in 1955 by the D.A.R. and then again in the mid 1980's by the Prince George's County Genealogical Society.
In Cheltenham, from the intersection of Highway 301 and Old Indian Head Highway, go east on Indian Head Highway for .5 miles until you reach Van Brady Road. Turn east on Van Brady Road and go .4 east/southeast until you reach the mailbox that has the address of 11401 Van Brady Road. Turn onto the dirt road there and go south for .3 mile. The cemetery is on the west side of the road in the woods. You will see two wooden crosses.
