Add PhotosOn June 10, 1909, 14 of the interred are known to have been moved to Pine Hill Cemetery, Section 8, Lots 26 and 27. The tomb was closed, and all those inside (except stillborn son) were moved. Abiezer the 3d had been in an unmarked grave in the yard, and he was moved too. The 14 who were moved are: Vienna Keith, and the following 13 Algers Abizer, Hepzibah, Abiezer, Annie, Abizer, James, Caroline, Caroline, Martha, Henry, Anne, Hepsey, and Cornelia.
Of the 9 interred remaining in this yard, 4 are known to have had inscribed headstones. There are 4 documented, unmarked graves here and presumably a 5th, "stillborn son".
The Massachusetts Historical Commission does not refer to this cemetery in MACRIS.
This burial place is referenced to in the book "Vital Records of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts to 1850", published by the New England Historic Genealogical Society, as G.R.4.
This burial place is referred to in the book "Epitaphs in Old Bridgewater, Massachusetts", by Williams Latham as "Alger grave-yard and tomb in West Bridgewater". Of it, he wrote "This yard contains sixteen to twenty square rods of land on Wolf Trap Hill, west side of Flaggy Meadow Brook, south side of the road, nearly opposite the dwelling house of James Otis Alger, in West Bridgewater. There is a common balance wall on the West side, and a bank wall on the North side, next to the road, and otherwise, it is unenclosed.".
