St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, of Saxonburg, was founded in 1869, when several of the English speaking members of the older church near Hannahstown, withdrew to form a congregation at Saxonburg. The new church founded a cemetery next to the existing Saxonburg Cemetery. This is marked as "St. Luke's Sections".
[information from: History of Butler Co., PA 1883 & 1895]
Today, Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery is considered to include all portions of these cemeteries.
The Old German section of the cemetery has stones dating back to 1837 and many of those are no longer readable, while others have fallen over or are broken. Over the years grass cutters have moved the broken stones into stacks, which makes deciphering them by location impossible. A Butler Co. Historical Society cemetery reading from the 1980's was used along with a reading from 2012 to photograph and identify all of the stones in the cemetery. Names in the Old German section listed without photographs are from the 1980's reading, but the stones can't be located or identified.
