Twenty-five ladies organized the Cottonwood Township Cemetery Association in 1906. The ladies raised money for trees, shrubs ad flowers that were planted. In 1908 the iron gate with the name "Prairie Hill Cemetery" on the arch was bought. 1920 was the year the ladies took over complete control and care. More land was bought in 1921 and the cemetery enlarged as it is today.
