Heart Attack Fatal
To Grocer Of City

Funeral services are scheduled this afternoon for F. A. Yancey, well-known grocer of the city, who died Wednesday at 2 p.m., at his residence on South Walnut Street.

The rites will take place at 3:30 at Keightley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Peyton Thurman, First Baptist Church pastor. assisted by the Rev. Virgil Weeks, Of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in charge. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Death came following a heart attack suffered late Tuesday night. Mr. Yancey had been able to carry on his business as usual prior to the seizure. For 31 years he had owned and operated a neighborhood grocery concern, on South Clay Street.

A native of Christian County, he was the son of the late James and Mildred Davis Yancey of North Christian and was born April 15. 1875. He was engaged in farming until moving to the city in 1918, purchasing his grocery business two years later.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and of the Modern Woodmen fraternal organization.

He was married to Miss Katie Mildred Meacham, who died in 1939. In November 1941, he was married to Mrs. Beatrice Snodgrass, who survives.

Mr. Yancey also leaves one daughter , Mrs. Myrtle Ebling, city; a grandson. Henry Ebling, a University of Kentucky student; two half-sisters, Mrs. C. C. Southard and Mrs. Walter Goode; and a half-brother, Lindsey Yancey, all of the county.

Pallbearers for the service include E. T. Smith, S. E. Yanccy, Hobart Watson, Gilmer Pursley, Elmer Reid and Charles Jackson.

His middle name is spelled Arkley in most of the records that I found. However, it was spelled Orkley on his Kentucky Death Certificate.
