Services for Christi Lyn Yancey, 20, of Lufkin, were held Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998 in the First United Methodist Church with burial in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Miss Yancey was born Sept. 2. 1978, in Beaumont and died Sturday, Dec. 19, 1998 in a Tyler hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lufkin. She was a member of the Lufkin High School Class of 1997. Miss Yancey was active in many school organizations, such as Class council and Young Life and she served as a DARE Role Model. She served as junior varsity and varsity cheerleader. She was a nursing student at Texas
Christian University and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.

Christi was loved by her many friends. She will be remembered for her vivacious personality, her zest for life, her determination and her ever-present heartwarming smile. She lived every day to the fullest and cherished her family and friends. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who live her.

Survivors: parents, Stan and Janet Benckenstein of Lufkin; sister, Amanda Yancey of Lufkin, Kim Webster of DeSoto and Shannon Baker of Sulphur Springs; grandmother, Marie Yancey of Beaumont; great-grandmother, Eunice Benckenstein of Orange; and nephews, Clayton Baker, Ryan Baker and Wesley Webster.

Miss Yancey was preceded in death by her father, Michael Yancey of Beaumont.
