Funeral Service for Mr. Charles N. Yancey, Jr., 92 a longtime resident of New Orleans, LA., formerly of Ferriday, LA, will be at 2 PM, Monday, August 17, 2015 at Ferriday First Baptist Church- Ferriday, LA with Rev. Josh Morea officiating with interment to follow in Woodlawn Mausoleum, visitation will be from 1 PM until service time at the church, under the direction of Comer Funeral Home-Ferriday, LA

Mr. Yancey was a graduate of Mississippi State University and Louisiana State University. He was a Lt. Colonel in the United States Army and was a decorated World War II and Korean War veteran. He later became a Geophysicist with Shell Oil Company and was employed with them for 34 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles N. Yancey, Sr. and Lela Hartsoe Yancey, Elizabeth Vaughan Yancey, his wife of 62 years, and his brother Richard K. Yancey.

He is survived by his son, Eugene Yancey of Hendersonville, TN and a daughter Elizabeth Yancey Stapel of Colorado Springs, Co, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
