C.R. Yancy Dies Here On March 19
Cecil Roy Yancy, 61, died at his home in Humble Friday March 19. Funeral services were held Monday, March 22, at the Humble Methodist Church with Rev. J.W.Turner, Rev. Bob Pate and Rev.Gilbert Johnson officiating.
Yancy had been a resident of Humble since 1924 when he came here as a telegraph operator and clerk with the T&NO Railroad. He formed Yancy Insuracy Agency in 1931 and served as Tax Assessor-Collector for the Humble School District from 1934 to 1944.
He was a member of Humble Lodge 979 AF&AM the Houston Consistory and Arabia Temple Shrine.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. C. Roy Yancy; a daughter, Mrs. E.W. Robbins Ill; four brothers, Hobson Yancy and Woodrow Yancy of McAllen, Jim Yancy of Houston and W.B. Yancy of Edinburg; two sisters, Mrs.E.E. Welsh of Haskell and Mrs. Mayme Lacey of Lufkin; and three grandchildren.
Burial was in Rosewood Memorial Park cemetery under direction of Humble Funeral Home.
